character background

Sakura is a twelve year old girl who is currently the Master of the Clow. Her parents are Fujitaka, one of Clow’s reincarnations, and Nadeshiko, a beautiful young woman and a professional model who died seven years before the start of the series. Sakura has an older brother, Touya, who has the ability to sense the supernatural and even sense ghosts. However, this power was given to Yukito/Yue in order for Yukito’s form to be saved. Sakura is named after “cherry blossom”.

Sakura lives in a fictional city called Tomoeda, which is really close to Tokyo. She goes to the local elementary school, where she is on the cheer squad. Sakura usually goes to school wearing pink and white rollerblades.

Sakura is very athletic in various sports such as swimming and track. This is inherited from her father, who is a very talented runner.

In the whole series, Sakura has many friends at school, showing that people like her very much. However, out of all those friends, Sakura has two best friends, although the latter is also considered the one Sakura likes the most.

The first friend that Sakura made in Tomoeda is a nice, beautiful, and rich girl named Tomoyo Daidouji. She’s a very talented singer at Sakura’s school. It is later found out that Tomoyo’s mother is cousins to Nadeshiko, which mean that Sakura and Tomoyo are distant relatives. Tomoyo creates all the costumes for Sakura throughout the series and Sakura is usually embarrassed by wearing them.

The person Sakura likes the most is Saoran Li, another descendant from Clow (on his mother’s side). Hailing from China, Syaoran doesn’t like that fact that a mere little girl (Sakura) was collecting the Clow Cards and at a very slow pace as well. The two of them were rivals and competed with each other in the beginning of the series, but they both soon realize that they like each other.

In the beginning of the series, Syaoran and Sakura both like Yukito, but it is soon found out that it was only because of the power of the Moon that they were drawn to him.

Kero (Cerberus) is one of Sakura’s non-human friends. Indeed, Kero is the Guardian Beast for the Clow Cards (which are now Sakura Cards) and has an Osakan accent. In the form that he’s usually seen in, Kero looks a lot like a stuffed bear and mouse combined. But in his true form, he looks more like a lion (or tiger).

Sakura is sweet, kind, and considered cute to many people. She doesn’t like having enemies or rivals at all and loves making friends. Her invincibility spell is also one of her best and remembered quotes, “Everything will be alright.”

The twelve year old worries about everyone’s safety and doesn’t really mind her own.

Afraid of ghosts so much that if the word is said, she’ll probably freak out.

When confused, she usually says, “Hoe~?” in a cute voice.
